;This study first develops a single-degree-of-freedom aeroelastic structure designed to undergo wind-induced torsional vibration and serve as the primary structure subjected to wind loading. Piezoelectric Multiple Tuned Vibration Energy Harvesters (Piezo-mTVEHs) are installed within the structure and integrated with it to form a Piezoelectric Torsional Bladeless Wind Turbine (Piezo-TBWT). The upper part of the aeroelastic structure consists of a rigid bluff body exposed to the wind, while the lower part is supported by four flat-plate columns that form the torsional base. By orienting the strong axis of each column toward the geometric center of the main structure, the structural configuration ensures that the fundamental mode is torsional while allowing the structure to develop a dynamic response to wind from any direction. Considering that the Piezo-mTVEHs are capable of vibration in a single direction only, they are arranged symmetrically arranged about the torsional center of rigidity. They are tuned to the structural torsional frequency to resonate with tangential base acceleration induced by structural torsion, thereby enabling vibration energy harvesting and conversion into electrical energy. For the numerical model, a single Piezo-TVEH model is first established, then multiple units are assembled into Piezo-mTVEHs and integrated into the torsional structure to formulate the Piezo-TBWT in state-space form. An analytical expression for the electrically induced damping ratio is derived and compared with the piezoelectric damping ratio obtained via eigenvalue analysis, serving as a preliminary tool for estimating the optimal resistance. A sensitivity analysis on three design parameters—external mass ratio, length ratio, and base-layer thickness—is then used to determine the Piezo-TVEH dimensions. Finally, three Piezo-TVEH units are installed in the torsional structure with identical parameter configurations to prevent uneven response distribution among the devices and to ensure full utilization of each device’s actuation capability. The direct search method is then employed, with average power maximization as the objective, to determine the optimal tip mass and external resistance. In the boundary layer wind tunnel, the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm (ERA) is first employed to identify the natural frequencies and damping ratios of the torsional structure and Piezo-mTVEHs, from which the structural and piezoelectric parameters are subsequently determined for further analysis. As the bluff body has a square cross-section and its torsional response varies with wind direction, wind tests under multiple angles are conducted to identify the wind direction that induces the most significant torsional response. The Piezo-mTVEHs are then installed for energy harvesting experiments under the selected wind direction. The energy conversion efficiency remains stable at approximately 42–43% across all wind speeds, which is close to the 41.56% estimated from the damping ratio. A maximum average harvested power of approximately 0.24 (mW) is achieved at a wind speed of 4.0 (m/sec), thereby validating the Piezo-TBWT model and confirming its energy harvesting capability under real wind conditions.
