100 Hz。;The Lunar Vector Magnetometer (LVM) is a magnetic field measurement instrument featuring two sampling rates of 500 Hz and 20 Hz, with a theoretical resolution of 0.78 nT. The LVM is a scientific payload developed for the Outer Space Exploration-Lunar Lander 1 (OSE-LL1) project under the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA), scheduled for in-situ measurements on the Moon in 2028. The primary scientific objectives of the LVM are to derive the one-dimensional electrical resistivity of the lunar subsurface at the landing site and to investigate the propagation characteristics of whistlers in the lunar ionosphere. The LVM assembly consists of three fluxgate magnetometers, a deployable boom, and a Data Logger (DLG).
The DLG is an embedded system developed based on the Xilinx Spartan 6 platform, and its printed circuit board was manufactured by RAiTEK. Ltd. Inc. This thesis primarily introduces the hardware circuit and flight software development of the DLG. The hardware circuit utilizes MicroBlaze as the computational core of the DLG, incorporating official Xilinx hardware modules. The software development is based on the MicroBlaze processor, utilizing C language and Xilinx-provided firmware driver functions to control and access peripheral chips. This achieves functions such as memory management, system timing, magnetic field science data sampling and packing, DLG health status monitoring, and communication with the lunar lander.
For performance verification, a Helmholtz coil was employed to generate calibrated magnetic fields to evaluate the LVM′s resolution, dynamic range, and bandwidth. Regarding the command and telemetry interface, a human-machine interface named Magview was developed using the PyQt5 package. Magview simulates the lunar lander′s On-Board Computer (OBC) to facilitate command transmission and the acquisition of health and science data packets, thereby streamlining the integration process with the lunar lander. Furthermore, Magview supports saving scientific data as CSV files for subsequent analysis and calibration. Ground verification, constrained by the limitations of the Helmholtz coil, demonstrates that the LVM can resolve an applied magnetic field of 100 nT, with a dynamic range of ±102.4 μT and a measurement bandwidth of up to 100 Hz.
