;With the rapid development of CubeSat technology, the demand for higher data transmission capability and communication reliability in satellite missions has continued to increase. Compared with the traditional UHF band, the S-band offers wider bandwidth and higher data rates, making it one of the primary communication solutions for low earth orbit (LEO) CubeSat missions. This study focuses on the PEARL-1A/1B (Propagation Experiment using kurz-Above-band Radio in Low Earth Orbit) CubeSat mission developed by the Space Payload Laboratory of National Central University and presents the development and verification of its S-band ground transceiver station. The research includes an introduction to the PEARL-1A/1B S-band communication subsystem, communication link analysis, ground station architecture, system assembly procedures, and equipment performance testing. A link budget analysis was first conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the communication link between the satellite and the ground station by analyzing free-space path loss, received power, and link margin under different elevation angles. Subsequently, the S-band ground station was assembled and integrated, including a 3-meter mesh parabolic dish antenna, feed system, azimuth and elevation tracking system, Software Defined Radio (SDR), and Digital Ground Station (DGS) system. Finally, SDR functionality tests, S-band transceiver integration tests, and satellite command verification tests were performed to validate the capabilities of satellite tracking, command transmission, and data reception. The results demonstrate the successful establishment and verification of the S-band ground transceiver station for the PEARL-1A/1B mission. The experience and outcomes of this study can serve as a valuable reference for future CubeSat ground station development and S-band satellite communication applications.
