;Charged particles in the space environment can induce Total Ionizing Dose effects and Single Event Effects, affecting the long-term reliability of space electronic systems. The Deep Space Radiation Probe (DSRP) employed RADFETs and commercial-off-the-shelf NAND Flash memory to measure total ionizing dose, dose rate, and memory single-event upset (SEU) events. This study analyzes system limitations observed in DSRP flight data and develops an improved Compact Radiation Probe (CRP) to enhance long-duration payload stability and the interpretability of NAND Flash SEU detection. Based on NAND Flash radiation effect literature, DSRP system architecture, flight software processes, and flight telemetry data, this study identifies long-duration operational anomalies and the limitations in the original SEU detection method. The CRP design introduces boot parameter protection, error counter initialization, dual-polarity SEU bit-flip detection, and a re-read comparison mechanism for error classification. The improved design was preliminarily verified through long-duration ground stability testing and high-energy proton irradiation experiments. The results show that the CRP maintained stable long-duration data output and separately recorded bit-flip behavior in erased and programmed regions of NAND Flash memory. Overall, this study establishes system robustness improvements and an SEU classification mechanism for the CRP, providing a design reference for future CubeSat radiation monitoring missions and radiation effect analysis of commercial-off-the-shelf memory devices.
