They are no longer limited to a subculture with a niche fan-base, lots of companies have started launching commercial collaborations related to VTubers. It can be said that VTubers have begun to enter our daily lives. There has been plenty of research related to idols and fans, but there has been little in-depth exploration of the interaction between VTubers and their fans. This study uses the example of the fanbase of Hololive′s 4th generation talent, Tsunomaki Watame, and selects five fans from Chinese-speaking Discord groups to conduct in-depth interviews. Through these interviews, the study aims to understand the various behaviors and mindsets fans develop in the process of following their idol. Secondary data collection was also used to corroborate the integrity of the interview content. Based on the research findings, this study concludes the following: 1. Compared to traditional idols, VTubers, using the internet as a medium for their activities, create a closer sense of proximity to their fans. 2. Fans display a desire to be noticed and even acknowledged by VTuber. 3. Fans often seek new life goals and attitudes in the process of pursuing VTubers. 4. In the process of supporting a VTuber, any act of fan support is seen as a ritual. 5. Most VTuber fans tend to avoid actively revealing their identity as fans in general social settings.
