;In automotive headlamp optical design, the light distribution pattern is subject to specific regulatory requirements. To prevent stray light from causing discomfort or glare to other road users, the light distribution pattern must exhibit a distinct cutoff line, making high contrast an important design consideration. Common regulations include the K-mark and E-mark standards. To satisfy these regulatory requirements, the brightest point of the light distribution pattern on the test screen should be positioned as close to the cutoff line as possible, thereby facilitating compliance with the regulations. Conventionally, a masking method is employed to position the brightest point on the cutoff line. In this approach, approximately half of a circular light distribution pattern is blocked to achieve the desired light pattern. However, this method reduces the optical efficiency of the system and may also compromise the aesthetic appearance of the headlamp. Therefore, this thesis proposes an optical design that utilizes only a reflector without additional masking, while positioning the brightest point as close to the cutoff line as possible and satisfying both K-mark and E-mark regulatory requirements. Finally, to obtain a smoother and more uniform light distribution pattern, a cylindrical lens array is incorporated to spread the light distribution laterally, making the proposed optical design more suitable for practical automotive headlamp applications.
