;Driven by artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, data centers, electric vehicles, and energy transition, power supplies have become critical components affecting system performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and supply chain security. As demand for high efficiency, high power density, thermal management, and system integration increases, industry competition has shifted from manufacturing cost and mass production toward R&D, platform validation, safety certification, global supply chain deployment, and long-term service capability. Based on the Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model, this thesis classifies the power supply industry into standardized, general industrial, high-technology, and mission-critical markets, and analyzes the causal relationships among market structure, pricing behavior, and profitability.
The findings show that standardized markets are fragmented and mainly rely on cost-plus or market-based pricing, with performance driven by scale efficiency and cost control. General industrial markets show moderate differentiation, where quality, technical support, and supply continuity support service premiums and customer retention. High-technology markets are more concentrated due to platform validation and system integration requirements, with profitability derived from co-development, non-recurring engineering (NRE) fees, phased pricing, and platform adoption. Mission-critical markets have the highest entry barriers and feature certification, risk, and life-cycle service premiums, with performance supported by niche positioning, long-term contracts, and supply stability.
Overall, market structure affects pricing and competitive behavior, firm conduct determines cost structure, differentiation, and profitability sources, and performance may further influence R&D investment, capacity expansion, customer selection, and market concentration. Competitive advantage depends on transforming technology, certification, quality, supply chain capabilities, and customer relationships into scalable products and services with stable cash flow and return on capital.
