;The Ruisui geothermal area in Hualien is located within the Yuli belt of eastern Taiwan, where deep-seated, high-temperature metamorphic rock bodies underwent rapid exhumation along a subduction channel during orogeny, bringing deep thermal energy to the shallow crust and forming a geothermal gradient anomaly. Hydrothermal fluids in this region exhibit extreme contrasts in concentrations of Na+, Cl-, Fe3+, HCO3-, and SO42- ions, implying complex structural fractures and diverse fluid circulation pathways. This study uses hydrothermal reactors experiments at 195°C for durations of 7 and 30 days to clarify the lithological controls of eight metamorphic rocks: Black Schist, Spotted Schist, Serpentinite, Glaucophane Schist, Meta Gabbro, Actinolite Schist, Retrograded Amphibolite, and Marble on hydrothermal characteristics, thereby investigating potential ion sources and evaluating chemical geothermometers. Experimental results indicate that: (1) Spotted schist releases significant SO42- under oxidizing conditions, inducing fluid acidification. (2)Glaucophane Schist and spotted schist serve as the primary sources for Cl- and Na+ ions, which is inferred to result from a dehydration evolution process where Cl- isomorphous substitutes for OH- groups in glaucophane and chlorite; however, a significant concentration gap remains between the experimental scale and actual hot spring waters. (3)Magnetite in Serpentinite and Retrograded Amphibolite, alongside Chamosite in Meta Gabbro and glaucophane schist, are the likely sources of high Fe in the outer hot spring fluids. Integrating experimental findings with field data reveals that the Inner Hot Springs are situated in Spotted Schist areas, featuring shallow meteoric circulation influenced by oxidizing recharge that yields higher sulfate concentrations. Conversely, the Outer Hot Springs display varying degrees of high salinity, high Cl-, and rich Fe2+, reflecting deep, long-duration, or higher-temperature water-rock interactions. Regarding geothermometer applicability, the no steam loss quartz geothermometer demonstrates high reliability in the Ruisui area, though caution must be exercised regarding temperature estimation biases caused by fluid acidification and silica oversaturation.
