Level changes and trend resistance are two criteria to determine the best run order for an experiment. A simple approach is utilized to find the number of symbol changes and the degree of trend-resistance for the columns in orthogonal main-effect plans of symmetric factorials. These are useful for the assignment of factors to the columns, which determines experimental runs with a run order, when costs of level changes for different factors are different.
