本文主要探討古文字中的虎字及其意義、文學作品中的虎及其形象與民俗學中的虎所呈現的多元面貌。全文共分五章，內容概述如下： 第一章 緒論：說明本文研究動機與目的、前人研究成果與研究範圍，並說明研究方法。 第二章 古文字中的「虎」字與代表意義：介紹漢字的起源與演變，並探討古文 字中的虎字及其代表意義。 第三章 文學作品中的虎及其形象：從神話、傳說、小說、戲劇探討文學中的虎， 並分析其形象，兼論虎故事類型。 第四章 民俗學中的「虎」：說明崇虎表現，介紹虎爺傳說及信仰內容，並論民間與虎有關的習俗及禁忌。 第五章 結論：整理前述各章節重點，歸納本文的研究結果和期待。 This thesis investigates the word “Tiger” and its meaning in ancient writing, the images of tiger in literatures and different aspects of tiger in folklore. There are five chapters in this thesis. The contents of each chapter are listed as below: Chapter 1. Introduction: Illustrates the motivation and purpose of this study, previous literatures, scope and method of study. Chapter 2. The word “Tiger” and its meaning in ancient writing: Introduction of the origin and evolvement of Chinese character. Investigation on the word “Tiger” and its meaning in ancient writing. Chapter 3. Tiger and its image in literature: Analyzing tiger in myth, legend, novel, and play. The types of stories were also discussed. Chapter 4. “Tiger” in folklore: Explain the respect to tiger, introduce the legend and believe of Master Tiger, discuss the custom and taboo related to tiger. Chapter 5. Conclusion: Summarize the keys of all chapters, conclude the findings and provide the prospection of this study.
