; Prevalence of networks has driven Ethernet become the hot industry, which is also the reason of rapid growth of wireless networks. The popular WLAN standard, IEEE 802.11a/g, has been released in July, 2003 and the following standard, IEEE 802.11n, is ready to be mature in the commercial market. Besides, the broadband wireless access technology is considered to practice in outdoor, such as the IEEE 802.16e called Mobile WiMAX which is denominated as the M-Taiwan project by the Taiwan’s authority. A key issue that is common in those modern wireless communication technologies is to apply the multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system for the OFDM technology. The goal of this project is to study MIMO OFDM systems with enhancement of MIMO channel estimation and channel tracking in time-varying wireless channels, in order to develop advanced communication signal processing algorithms and educate key persons. This project is divided into two phases: the first year, we focus on the algorithm studies for stable transmission over the time-varying channel and build the system model relying on the knowledge from our surveys; and the second year, we continue to modify the system specification and complete the overall MIMO OFDM system application for different channel environments. Based on this project, we can propose a new blind channel tracking technique for MIMO OFDM systems in the time-varying channel.
