    Title: 行動異質網路串流服務之傳輸平台與應用---子計畫四:行動異質網路下串流服務品質與適應性傳輸技術之研究;QoS Study and Adaptive Transmission Technology for Interactive Streaming Services in Mobile Heterogeneous Networks

    Abstract: 本子計畫主要針對行動異質網路整合架構下之無線電資源管理及傳輸技術進行研究,並期以所得之研究成果,以新型態串流服務為客體,將整體系統效能進行最佳化並達成行動用戶之服務品質保證服務(QoS)的需求。在計畫中,行動異質網路之整合架構以3GPP 之UMTS 以及IEEE 802.16e-2005 Mobile WiMAX 網路為基礎,佐以IEEE 802.21 MIH 異質無線電整合介面為輔,並藉GPS 定位資訊的反饋,根據行動用戶的行進狀況和串流服務之特性,估測跟調整服務交遞的決策,以規劃服務網路與目標網路之資源分配、服務交遞管理和負載調度。現有之硬式交遞(Hard handoff) 與軟式交遞(Soft handoff)技術乃僅根據目標網路的資源規劃與使用,針對用戶的需求以定額的方式來給配與決定,而此子計畫的服務交遞決策期配合服務網路與候選網路的整體資源協調,為行動用戶進行漸進式的服務交遞。預期此間所發展之評估、決策和交遞的技術(在計畫中統合稱之為適應性傳輸技術),除可在相關的網路上藉由負載平衡的操作增加整體的系統使用效率及降低服務中斷 (Dropping rate)和阻卻率(Blocking rate)外,並可增加行動間線上串流服務的可用性,而真正達到行動異質網路整合的目的,且對新型態之串流服務提供最佳的服務立基。表 ; To fit the trend to the development of wireless networks and establish a ubiquitous environment for mobile computing service in the coming future, integration of heterogeneous networks is inevitable. Nowadays however, each heterogeneous mobile network possesses its own properties, and makes radio resource management independently, thus, radio resource sharing among them is a big problem. This is not a benefit to the mobile subscribers, especially when they are roaming through some kinds of heterogeneous networks and have the need to keep their service ongoing. To make the situation being improved and let the individual heterogeneous network be integrated, this project is proposed to studying the integrating technologies of individual radio resource and the techniques of advanced transportation. Then, a brand new type of multi-media streaming service will be performed on the integrated network, which is supporting all the mechanisms mentioned above, and some adjustments will be done to make the whole integrated system efficient and get the target of QoS. In this project, we will focus on UMTS and mobile WiMAX networks as so-called heterogeneous networks. Besides, IEEE 802.21 MIH (Media Independent Handover) will be introduced to provide information of neighboring base stations needed when a mobile subscriber desires to do handoff procedure. And geographical coordinates data from Global Positioning System (GPS) embedded on mobile user equipment will be fed back to the radio resource manager. Thus, according to mobile subscribers’ moving speeds and directions, the radio resource manager can perform some estimation and make the decision about how to assign the limited radio resources to each subscriber intelligently. The whole project is planned into two parts and expected a two-year working duration. In the first year, the topics are focused on a. GPS application study, b. the study of analysis of multi-media streaming service, c. intelligent mechanism design for candidate heterogeneous base station listing, d. the study of adaptive scheduler design and e. the study of adaptive call admission control algorithm design. And in the second year, the topics will be based on the results of the first year, and focused on the alignment of a gradually handover procedure and then, a brand new type of multi-media streaming service will be performed on the integrated network and some validate and adjustment works will be done for optimize the integrated network efficiency and make sure that it is a suitable platform on which all mobile subscribers can experience satisfaction with the mobile multi-media streaming service. ; 研究期間 9808 ~ 9907
