研究期間:10108~10207;Longmen Shan Range located between the southeastern Songpan-Ganzi orogenic belt northwestern Sichuan Basin, is of important significance in the field of structural geology study. After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, under the support of National Science Council, Taiwanese scientists teamed up to engage in the earthquake-related research of the Longmen Shan area. The PI of this proposal also participated in this team and got many important results after frequent field investigations during 3 years. The Longmen Shan Range, because of its complexity and variation in structural geology, is indeed a good research topic and worthy of long-term and continued study. The research team mentioned before will be disbanded at the end of this year (2011). We thus propose this project to continue the structural research of the Longmen Shan Range. First, we will collect the regional geological survey data, including previous geophysical and geological survey results, to carry out a systematic collation and analysis. Then we will proceed to a series of field investigation, measurement and analysis, including geomorphic analysis and fault stress analysis. Briefly, our study will cover the domains of regional structure, fault mechanism and tectonic evolution. The aims of the project is to understand the fault distribution, the segmentation, the stress field, the mechanism of mountain building, and the tectonic evolution of the Longmen Shan Range.
