Abstract: 研究期間:10108~10207;Collective cooperative behavior often arises due to the interactions among the constitutive elements in a system. Such emergent systems behaviors are observed in a wide variety of physical system in condensed matter physics as well as in systems biology. In this plan, we focus on the change of collective dynamical behavior, coupled network structures, due to nonlinear interactions. These elements/cells are coupled via chemicals in the surrounding environment. We intend to investigate various frontier topics in nonlinear biophysics listed below: (P1) Theory on extra-cellular coupling of nonlinear dynamical element and application to Quorum Sensing (P2) Universal behavior in Frequency and Precision Enhancement in coupled noisy excitable systems (P3) Theory on uncontrolled growth in Skin cell proliferation model due to de-differentiation (P4) Model on cell migration, growth, and differentiation: Reaction-diffusion equation approach (P5) Nonlinear Dynamics of cardiac arrhythmia: control on cardiac alternans with small perturbations (P6) Complex network reconstruction of from noisy time-series data: application to neuronal/cardiac cells The topics are all intimately related, not only in concepts, but also in theoretical techniques. And all of these have close connections with our first-hand experimental collaborations in neuronal cell, cardiac cell, and bacteria culture systems. We anticipate the outcome of these results will not be only directly useful to the specific biological or soft-matter system we studied, but are also fundamental in the basic understanding of coupled nonlinear systems.
