Abstract: 研究期間:10108~10207;The deployment of LTE systems is the main industry direction. According to 2011 GSA Report, “Status of the LTE Ecosystem”, 180 operators are investing in LTE, with 128 LTE network commitments and 52 additional pre-commitment trials on-going. 17 commercial LTE systems are launched and at least 64 networks are anticipated to be in commercial service by end 2012. LTE enhancements are gaining interest across the world as standardization and the industry progress toward IMT-Advanced. The main purpose of this subproject is to research on the further enhancements for LTE-Advanced. Because the possibility for UMTS/LTE/LTE-Advanced co-existence, these heterogeneous networks also support different tire cells, such as macro, micro, pico and femto cells. Therefore, to establish and maintain good radio resource management and Self-Organizing Networks are crucial issues. In this project, we will investigate mechanisms for handling flexible radio resource requirements in the next-generation mobile communication networks. The main purpose of this subproject is to design the resource management and Self-Organizing Networks mechanisms. Carrier Aggregation technology, for both contiguous and non-contiguous spectrum, would support bandwidth up to 100MHz and also enable a more flexible spectrum utilization. Coordinated Multipoint Transmission/Reception, an evolution of the inter-cell interference coordination, is yet another technology to enhance the performance of the LTE-Advanced systems. Enhanced coverage and higher cell edge data rates requirements of 4G systems could be met by the relaying technology. The research topics also include: mechanisms for Carrier aggregation (CA)、Relaying、Enhanced ICIC for non-CA based deployments of heterogeneous networks for LTE (eICIC)、SON enhancements、CoMP (Coordinated Multipoint Transmission and Reception).
