; In this study, we studied the hydrophobic characteristic of Papilio blumei butterfly scale, especially in green part on the butterfly wing. The reason for hydrophobic characteristic of this butterfly wing is that the surface is composed of concaves with few micrometer which a drop of water can't contact the surface easily. Nanoimprint technology has been applied to reproduce the surface structure (concaves) of butterfly wing so that the thin film is hydrophobic. The first step in the process, we use PDMS to mimic the surface of butterfly wing (concaves). The PDMS is a negative structure. In the second step, we make the thin film by spin coating. The last step is that use PDMS to imprint a thin film, let the thin film is with positive structure. Owing to the surface of thin film with concave structure, contact angle of structure-thin film is increased from 75.03o to 102.99o.
