;This paper took from the 1990s of Taiwan, three emerging female writers who rose in the literary world. Hao Yu-Hsiang, Chen Ying-Shu and Zhu Shaolin discussed the ‘search ’of female writers within their literary works, especially novels. Hao Yu-Hsiang is well-known for her works entangled in familial affairs, Chen Ying-Shu, whose work often stirred-up discussion on gender issues, and under Zhu Shaolin’s pen, her works penetrate into the inner most thoughts of the urbanites and shed lights on what trouble them. All three of these writers have each with their different themes separate pursuits of goal. However, though seemingly unrelated, reading their works together unveiled a surprisingly similar pattern of self-discovery and search for freedom among the three authors. On self-discovery, they are inclined to discover more about their own gender identity and existence. And through searching freedom, they each went through a transformative journey from finding their own shackles to eventually understood and found true freedom. Regardless of their pursuits, they were all able to redeem themselves through the literally world as the writing draws to a close.
