地球科學研究推動中心為科技部自然科學與永續研究發展司(簡稱自然司)所屬四個研究推動中心之一，本計畫為地科中心業務推動計畫，主要任務如下：(一)協助自然司研訂地球科學相關學門研究發展方向與重點，策劃、推動與評估各學門中長期重點學術研究。(二)協助自然司推展與國內外研究機構之學術交流與合作。(三)協助自然司進行跨領域研究學術交流與合作。(四)協助自然司宣傳推廣自然科學相關研究成果及亮點。(五)審核及補助地科領域學術會議、研討會、及學術聯繫活動。(六)審核及補助地科領域「國外學者短期訪問補助案」。(七)執行地球科學圖書服務計畫。(八)執行自然司委辦事項。 本中心設主任一人，綜理中心業務，人選由科技部聘任，中心設有審議會，成員除納入學門召集人外，都來自全國各主要地科學術單位，學術資歷豐富，專長涵蓋所有地球科學領域，具高度代表性。103年起將永續發展、防災科技以及空間資訊等三個學門加入服務對象，審議委員人數已達二十人。中心議案由所有委員合議，包括評估及推動各學門研究發展方向與中長程規劃、審核中心各項補助申請案、協助中心各項辦法制定，並對圖書服務計畫執行提供建議。 ;The Earth Science Research Promotion Center (ESRPC) located at the National Central University is one of four research promotion centers operated by the Department of Natural Sciences and Sustainable Development (DNSSD), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). This project is to support the operation of the ESRPC with the following primary missions:(1) To assist DNSSD on the planning of key research topics in earth science, and the promotion and evaluation of mid- and long-term academic research. (2) To assist DNSSD on building the academic cooperation between domestic and foreign institutions. (3) To assist MOST on carrying out interdisciplinary academic cooperation.(4) To assist MOST on promoting scientific-related research results and highlights. (5) To evaluate the applications of academic meeting, workshop, and international cooperation activities supported by the ESRPC.(6) To evaluate the applications of inviting short period visit of foreign scientists supported by the ESRPC. (7) To carry out library service project of ESRPC.(8) To conduct tasks and missions assigned by MOST.The director of ESRPC is appointed by MOST to be in charge of above missions. The members of our advisory committee involve a variety of scientists from all aspects in broad earth science to support the ESRPC on evaluating funding applications, promoting academic cooperation, and providing suggestions on purchasing scientific journals. Staring from 2014, divisions of sustainable development, disaster remediation, and geospatial information technology have been included to be supported by the ESRPC.
