Pinang Island was formally ceded to the Britain in 1786. From 1796 to 1802 and 1810 to 1816, the” Spice Islands” was occupied by British twice. At the same time, nutmeg trees were first brought to Pinang Island, Malaya. Nutmeg trees were cultivated on large scale plantings; therefore, there were bumper crops with fine cultivation There is a village where Hakka people in the mountain in Pinang Island called Balik Pulau. The villagers are almost farmers, who plant a variety of common crops; however, corps is different from those in Taiwan. People who live in Balik Pulau seed with tropical plants such as durian, rubber, and clove in common, especially nutmeg. We found lots of Hakka people not only do a planting with nutmeg, but operate factories to trade in nutmeg. In order to develop and expand their industry, the early immigrant created the uniqueness by correlation. The purpose of this research is to exercise the nutmeg industry in the concept of Ethnic Economy, and the role of ethnic group in nutmeg industry.
